US Open 2012 Men's Results: Novak Djokovic Wins, Defeats David Ferrer in Four Sets

Novak Djokovic was a completely different player today than he was last night. Mother Nature was also a compltely different force on Saturday and Sunday. Djokovic defeated No. 4 ranked David Ferrer in four sets, advancing to the 2012 U.S. Open Finals. He won 2-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2.

With the victory, Djokovic enters the finals where he will face Andy Murray for the title at the U.S. Open.

As mentioned above, Djokovic did a great job battling back from a match that completely went against him on Saturday as the weather conditions were not in his favor. Ferrer made the best of the situation, but Djokovic was caught off guard and could not perform under the windy conditions.

Djokovic lost the first set on Sunday, but he rallied back and was unstoppable in the second serve. He showed signs of being himself early as his backhand was working and he quickly went ahead and closed out the set 6-1.

He went up 2-0 in the third set, but Ferrer roared back to take the 3-2 lead. Djokovic then closed out the set by winning 4 out of five games. 

Djokovic then held a 4-0 lead in the final set. Ferrer stayed alive holding his serves, but Djokovic then put him away and took the final serve and completed a completed a dominant performance.

At times during the match, Ferrer would look at his coaches perplexed as if saying "How can I stop this guy?"  

Djokovic is now 39-6 in the U.S. Open for his career and will attempt to go back-to-back as U.S. Open champion.
