2012 NFL Power Rankings Entering Week 2: 49ers, Patriots and Ravens in Top 3

After the conclusion of Week 1, the power rankings in the NFL have shifted. Some teams remain in the same position, but for most there was movement. The San Franciscion 49ers had a dominating victory over the Green Bay Packers, which keeps them at No.1. The Patriots and Tom Brady had a great start to their season and the Baltimore Ravens completed a routing of the Bengals and moved up into the Top 3.

Here are the rankings entering Week 2.

(*Numers on the right show whether team moved up, down or stayed the same in the rankings) Take a look at Week 1 Rankings.

1. San Francisco 49ers (0)
The 49ers proved against the Green Bay Packers that they are one of the top teams in the league. Alex Smith was almost flawless in first start of 2012

2. New England Patriots (0)
Let's just say the worst thing executed on Sunday afternoon was Rob Gronkowski's touchdown celebration spike. Tom Brady distributed the ball well and the Pats' D was tough. Just ask Jake Locker and Chris Johnson

3. Baltimore Ravens +3
Joe Flacco said he was the best quarterback in the NFL. If he continues to have 299-yard passing games with no interceptions, he might build a case for it. One of the most balanced teams in the NFL put up 41 on the Bengals

4. Houston Texans (+1)
All the Texans needed was a big second quarter, which was led by their defense. Tannehill was picked off three times and the Texans scored 24 points in the second half.

5. Green Bay Packers (-2)
The Packers two spots as they prove that their defense is still subpar. Alex Smith did as he pleased and Frank Gore rushed for over 100 yards.

6. New York Giants (-2)
The New York Giants are lucky they are still in the Top 10 after their performance against the Cowboys. Their pass rush disappeared in the second half. Their receivers were not in the game. If another performance like Wednesday's repeats, they just might find themselves within  the Top 15.

7. Atlanta Falcons (+3)
Matt Ryan did not waste any time getting the offense started. He went for 299 yards and 3 TD's with no interceptions. Their defense had 2 interceptions, 3 sacks and a forced fumble despite giving up three TD's

8. Chicago Bears (+4)
Despite giving up 21 points, the Bears' defense was tough creating 5 turnovers in the game. Cutler and Brandon Marshall lit up the skies at soldier field

Denver Broncos
Peyton Manning performed like the Manning of old as he went for 253 yards and two touchdowns against the Steelers. Tracy Porter gave Manning and the Broncos a hand with a pick-six that sealed the deal. Defense and offense in sync for the Broncos early.

10. Dallas Cowboys (+6)
The Cowboys surprised many proving they can play defense and light up a scoreboard. They looked very balanced against the Giants in the season opener.

11. Detroit Lions (-3)
The Lions struggled to barely get passed a Ram team that is expected to finish at the bottom of the NFC West. The offense was potent as Stafford threw for 355 yards, but he also threw 3 interceptions. Defense has to step it up.

12. Philadelphia Eagles (-1)
The Eagles are lucky to be on the win column as Michael Vick rallied them back for a game winning 91-yard scoring drive. Defense did decent job of keeping them in the game. Have to do a better job in the fourth quarter.

13. Pittsburgh Steelers (-5)
The Steelers take a tumble as last seasons' Top 5 defensive teams gave up 24 to the Broncos. Big Ben could not rally back his troops against the Broncos after a costly interception.

14. New Orleans Saints (-7)
Okay, so maybe Sean Payton is more important than some people thought. RGIII and Redskins were unstoppable. Drew Brees threw two interceptions. Look for Saints to bounce back in Week 2.

15. New York Jets (+9)
Well look who decided to show up on offense when it mattered. The Jets answered critiques by putting up 48 points. Sanchez had 3 TD's and the Jets' D was present despite giving up 28 points.

16. San Diego Chargers (+5)
The Chargers bump up in the rankings after beating the Raiders. If they want to remain up here they will have to prove they can score once in enemy territory. They won on the leg of Nate Kaeding who finished with 5 field goals. Defense was solid though.

17. Washington Redskins (+2)
Redskins move up in power rankings for doing it on offense and defense. RGIII impressed many throwing for over 300+ yards and 2 TDs in debut. Redskins D intercepted Brees twice.

18 Cincinnati Bengals (-5)
The Bengals' took a beating. Dalton was sacked four times and he threw an interception with no touchdowns. Their defense gave up 34 points.

19. Arizona Cardinals (+10)
The Cards surprised many in their Week 1 victory over their division rivals Seahawks. Need to show more discipline in big moments if they want to succeed this season.

20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+8)
Josh Freeman had a lackluster performance, but somehow the Bucs found a way to get past Newton and the Panthers. I am not convinced by their offense, which is why they are ranked so low. Lack of offense will put too much pressure on defense.

21. Seattle Seahawks (-3)
The Seahawks let this game get by them. They came back in the second quarter, but the defense could not close out the game against the Cardinals and the offense could not capitalize in the red zone late in the game.

22. Tennessee Titans (-5)
They gave up 34 against Brady and the Pats, but they could not execute on offense. Chris Johnson had only four yards rushing.

23. Carolina Panthers (-7)
The Panthers looked beyond futile in Week 1. They gave up less than 260 total yards, but could not win the game. Cam Newton needs to do it with his legs and not only with arm.

24. Cleveland Browns (+2)
Their defense proved top notch as they intercepted Vick four times, despite him throwing for 317 yards. Weeden and Richardson had tough debuts, but still a strong team effort in a loss.

25. Kansas City Chiefs (-5)
If the Kansas City Chiefs want to make a run at the AFC West then they will need a better defensive effort than the 40 points they allowed to the Atlanta Falcons. Offense was decent though.

26. Oakland Raiders (-4)
Carson Palmer had a decent game throwing 297 yards and a touchdown, but Raiders' struggling running game could not bring balance to team. Defense let Chargers get into their territory too often.

27. Jacksonville Jaguars (-4)
Jaguars impressed putting up 23 points, but then again they played the Vikings. Should have won in Week 1, but big plays late in the game hurt the team.

28. Indianapolis Colts (-3)
Andrew Luck had 309 yards passing, but finished the day with 3 interceptions. The offense coughed up the ball twice on fumbles. The defense gave up 41 points.

29. Buffalo Bills (-2)
The Buffalo Bills automatically drop after giving up 48 points to the Jets in the first game of the season. Ryan Fitzpatrick had 3 TD's but threw for only195 yards and had 3 interceptions

30. Minnesota Vikings (+2)
Vikings lucky to have Adrian Peterson who rushed for 2 TD's. Viking fans however, should not get used to the wins.

31. St. Louis Rams (0)
The Rams performed decently on Sunday, but without a balanced running game and Bradford throwing for less than 200 yards, the team was lucky their defense picked off Stafford three times.

32. Miami Dolphins (-2)
Tannehill could not complete a pass to a Dolphin on Sunday. Things are looking bleak in Miami as the team gave up at 24-spot in the second quarter.
