The Milwaukee Brewers are in major need of saving their season after they fired manager Ron Roenicke following a dismal 9-19 start to the season. The team was able to get a win following the personnel move against the Chicago Cubs and remain hopeful that they can keep the momentum alive. However, facing the Los Angeles Dodgers is not the best way to make that happen.
The Brewers got their first series win of the season when they beat the Chicago Cubs, but they still own the worst record in the league and are showing very little signs of improvement. Pitching is an issue as the rotation owns a 3.05 ERA which at one point ballooned to a 4.87 ERA while he team was 4-17. The team's offense at home has been reasonable. Adam Lind got a home run and double while hitting .389 playing at Miller Park. That drops to .231 on the road.
Milwaukee will give the ball to Mike Fiers for the start against the Dodgers. He is 1-3 with a 4.74 ERA. He had a rough April, but looked strong against Chicago when he striked out 12 while giving up just three hits in the process for the 6-1 road win. The pitcher has won his last three starts against the Dodgers, giving up two runs in just 16 2/3 innings.
Los Angeles will counter with Carlos Frias who has yet to allow a run over 7 2.3 innings of play. He won the first start of his career against the Arizona Diamondbacks after taking the spot of Brandon McCarthy in the lineup. McCarthy is undergoing Tommy John surgery, so Frias has a good chance to win the job permanently. The Dodgers offense has been riding behind Joc Pederson who continues to have a breakout year. He homered twice in the team last game as the Dodgers are winners of eight of their last 11 games. Los Angeles looks to keep the momentum moving in their favor as they prepare to face a Brewers team desperate for a win.
