Chelsea Transfer News: Roberto Di Matteo 'Deflated' After Juventus Draw; Mikel Bemoans Giving Away 'Cheap' Equalizer

Roberto Di Matteo said he was deflated after Chelsea threw away a two-goal lead to hand Juventus a 2-2 draw in their Champions League encounter at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea seemed to begin their title defense brilliantly, with Oscar, who was making his first start of the season, scoring two goals, the second particularly catching the eye.

The Italian champions, however, fought back, with Arturo Vidal scoring the first just before half-time, and Fabio Quagliarella levelling scores with ten minutes to go.

"It was a very good football game and both teams could have won it," Di Matteo told Sky Sports.

"We had chances with a third goal to close the game but I think it was probably a deserved draw.

"We found ourselves in a great position to win the game and we only got a draw but we knew we were playing a quality side that have a lot of good players.

"We feel a little deflated because we were ahead but it's going to be a tough group and we get on to the next game now."

Di Matteo also had words of praise for Oscar, after his two-goal effort, with the Brazilian starting in place of Juan Mata. "We were just waiting for the right game for him, it was wonderful to watch. The second goal was fantastic," the Italian added.

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel admitted the players had given away a point to Juventus due to a lack of concentration. "We started the game well and scored two goals and had the game under control," the defensive midfielder said.

"They scored one goal and then in the second half we tried to start the same way as we had in the first.

"It was a cheap goal to give away, the second one for them. I think we switched off, we should have dealt with it properly."

The other game in Group F saw Shakhtar Donetsk score a 2-0 win over FC Nordjaelland.
