The English Premier League table has Chelsea on top of the EPL standings coming into Championship Sunday and they have won the Barclays EPL title this year over Manchester City, while Manchester United and Arsenal are battling for position in the Champions League in the top 4 ahead of Liverpool and Tottenham and this comes as Hull City or Newcastle will fall into relegation.
Chelsea clinched the title already coming into championship weekend and they had been in first place for nearly the entire season. The Blues have been the most consistent team in the EPL and they come in as winners ahead of Manchester City, who won the Barclays title last year. The top four is already clinched and that means Chelsea and Man City are into the Champions League along with Manchester United and Arsenal.
The only question for the top four on the final day is the positions of Man United and Arsenal, but it is basically set, as the Gunners are ahead by three in third place ahead of Manchester and have a better goal differential by seven. Arsenal will finish third with any result unless they lose and and United wins with a seven goal swing. Manchester will be in line for a spot in the playoff instead of a bye into the group stage in the UCL next season. Arsenal plays against West Brom, while United plays against Hull away.
The top four are into the Champions League and the EPL also has a spot for the Europa League for the fifth place team in the standings. The FA Cup and Capital One Cup winners also get in. Chelsea won the title after winning against Crystal Palace in early May and now in relegation is Burnley and Queens Park as the bottom two teams. Burnley clinched that on May 9 even with a win against Hull that day and Queens Park clinched their spot that week as well. The only major move left is to see whether it will be Hull City or Newcastle United joining them.
The schedule on Sunday has Hull City playing against Manchester United and the Tigers need a win, while Newcastle plays against West Ham. Chelsea is tops now with 84 points and they are ahead of Man City, who has 76 on the season. Arsenal comes in with 72 points over Man United with 69, while Liverpool is fifth with 62 points after a strong second half of the season. Liverpool leads Tottenham and Southampton, while Swansea City is in at eighth.
Stoke City is ninth in the league standings, while Everton, West Ham, Crystal Palace and West Brom are next on the table. Leicester City is in at 14 ahead of Sunderland, while Aston Villa, Newcastle and Hull City are ahead of Burnley and QPR. All games are at 10 am ET and will be broadcast across all NBC networks as the season finishes. Man City takes on Southampton, while Chelsea plays Sunderland, Aston Villa plays Burnley, Arsenal takes on West Brom and Everton plays Tottenham.
