Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Adrian Peterson Trade, Dez Bryant Contract Likely After Orlando Scandrick Deal as Matt Forte, Ray Rice Options for Darren McFadden

The Dallas Cowboys continue to make moves regarding their roster as many wonder what Jerry Jones is gearing up to do. The Cowboys continue to free up salary cap space for this season while helping shape the roster for the future. With veteran players coming in for tryouts, is a trade for Adrian Peterson and contract extension for Dez Bryant in the future?

According to Todd Archer of ESPN.com, the Cowboys have given cornerback Orlando Scandrick a new contract making him their highest paid cornerback. Scandrick had been holding out for a new deal and the Cowboys finally granted him a contract that runs through 2019 and will earn him $4 million per season. Scandrick's contract frees up cap space while a potential new deal for Brandon Carr could be next.

ESPNDallas.com is reporting that Carr could be the next to get a new deal. The cornerback has made it clear that he has no intentions of taking a pay cut, but he is scheduled to be a $12.7 million salary cap hit this year. According to owner Jerry Jones, the team wants Carr around, but they are having a hard time keeping him at his current price tag.

With some players getting next contracts, is Bryant next? According to Jones via the Dallas Morning News, a contract extension to their top wide receiver is simply not in the cars this offseason. Jones says that while the Cowboys intend to keep Bryant for the long-term, there is no market yet for top wide receivers and the team is simply more comfortable waiting for others like Julio Jones, AJ Green and Demaryius Thomas to sign first.

Could this all be leading up to a trade? According to ESPN.com, the Cowboys have brought in Felix Jones and Ben Tate for tryouts while admitting that Chris Johnson is an running back option. Will Dallas break down and try to trade for Adrian Peterson? According to Jones he would be willing to give up a No. 1 draft for a game-changing running back. Without doubt lingering in Darren McFadden, Peterson and Matt Forte are those types of players.

Dallas must decide if a running back committee is enough to replace DeMarco Murray or if they need to go big for a trade of Peterson. McFadden along with Joseph Randle might simply not be enough to get a strong season in the run game.
