Chad Johnson Domestic Violence: Johnson Sentenced To Probation And Anger Management In Domestic Battery Case (Video)

Former six-time NFL Pro Bowler Chad Johnson has pleaded no contest to a domestic violence charge involving his then-wife, reality TV star Evelyn Lozada.

Johnson was sentenced Friday to a year's probation and counseling course under a plea deal with prosecutors. Johnson must also pay Lozada unspecified restitution.

Johnson, 34, was arrested on Aug. 11 on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge after he allegedly head-butted Lozada during an argument.

Lozada was treated for a "pretty good-sized" laceration to her forehead, police Cpt. Dale Engle told NFL.com at the time.

One month after Lozada, 36, filed for divorce on grounds the marriage was "irretrievably broken" following a domestic dispute, a Florida judge made it official on Wednesday. The judge also upheld a private pre-nup agreement.

Prior to the divorce announcement on August 14, Lozada released a statement addressing the incident: "It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles."

Johnson has revealed he has enrolled in anger management classes following the alleged head butting incident with Lozada.

"I'm trying to find out how can I channel my anger when I'm in situations to where I would pop off," Johnson said in an interview with Showtime's Inside The NFL which aired on Wednesday night.

Johnson also issued a public apology via his website:

"I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred.

"I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death."
