Sepp Blatter Re-Elected As FIFA President After Corruption Arrests, Defeats Prince Ali bin al-Hussein of Jordan

Despite the arrests of numerous top officials in the organization under his watch, Sepp Blatter was re-elected as FIFA's president on Friday, defeating Prince Ali bin al-Hussein of Jordan after he received 133 votes and this comes after a major scandal that has rocked the soccer world.

Coming into the election, Blatter was expected to win another term and he did it with 133 votes against the 73 votes for Ali. According to ESPN.com, Blatter spoke to the FIFA congress after winning and said that he is looking forward to the future and that FIFA will be a better organization moving forward. This all came after authorities arrested numerous top officials in an early morning raid on indictments for bribery, wire fraud and other charges.

Mr. Blatter said in a speech before the vote: "I am being held accountable for the current storm. O.K., so be it. I will shoulder it."
