The San Francisco 49ers get ready to play in Minnesota against the Vikings as the teams get ready to clash a 1 p.m. ET.
The 49ers are one of the favorite teams in the NFL. So far, Alex Smith has played well and guided San Francisco to a 2-0 start. For Smith, he has completed just over 70 percent of his passes. He has thrown four touchdowns and no interceptions.
The 49ers have beaten two of the NFC North's and the NFL's best offenses. The defeated the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 then hosted the Detroit Lions and beat them 27-19 as Smith put on a display late in the game, keeping the ball away from the Lions' dynamic Stafford/Johnson duo late in the fourth quarter.
They will face another NFC North team in the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings stole a victory in Week 1 against the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars, but last week they fell to the Indianapolis Colts 23-20, making them 1-1 in the 2012 season.
Chris Ponder has thrown the ball well in the first two weeks of the season. He has racked up 515 total yards passing with a QB rating of 110. Ponder, like Smith, has yet to throw an interception this season.
The Minnesota Vikings will have to get Adrian Peterson to score a few touchdowns if they want to stay in this match. The Vikings will have to balance their attack against one top defensive teams in football.
The 49ers will try to keep get ahead of the Arizona Cardinals as they will face the Philadelphia Eagles later in the day. The Cardinals and 49ers are tied for the top spot in the NFC West.
The Vikings are tied with everybody in the NFC North as the entire division is 1-1.
