The Chicago White Sox lost to the Cleveland Indians 6-4 and with the loss they have ceded their first place spot in the American League Central to the fighting Detroit Tigers.
The White Sox let this game go despite having a 3-1 lead. The Indians came back to tie it at three, but then the White Sox regained the lead on a double by Aleixi Ramirez scoring A. J. Pierzynski. It made the score 4-3 heading into the top of the sixth.
In the sixth, Carlos Santana walked with the bases loaded to tie the game at four. They scored two more runs, one in the seventh and then Vinny Rottino put the topping on the victory with an insurance homer in the eighth to give the Indians a two-lead cushion.
The White Sox threatened in the ninth with a runner on second, but Paul Konerko popped out toI ndians' shortstop Brent Lillibridge.
The Tigers applied pressure to the White Sox after defeating the almost unhittable Jeremy Guthrie earlier that evening. The Royals put up a three spot in the third inning, which gave Gurthire a two-run cushion. They added another one in the fourth and gave him a three-run cushion.
But, Alexis Avila and Austin Jackson changed the complexion of the game hitting a homer each in the bottom of the fourth. Avila drove in Jhonny Peralta and Jackson hit a solo shot to tie the game.
Andy Dirks broke up a double-play in the bottom of the eighth to tie give the Tigers the lead and the game-winning run.
