Buccaneers Rumors: Mike Glennon Trade Option For Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, NY Jets With Jameis Winston Starter?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could consider a Mike Glennon trade this year with Jameis Winston being drafted as the starter for 2015, as the young quarterback has some talent and could get value for the team if he is traded and teams like the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, New York Giants, Houston Texans, NY Jets and Seattle Seahawks could be potential landing spots.

Glennon has come up in trade rumors in the past, including last year when the Browns were considered an option for the young quarterback. The team reportedly had interest this year, as Jeremy Fowler at ESPN.com reported that the Browns "sniffed around" on Glennon around the NFL draft. The team has Johnny Manziel and Josh McCown now, but they could look at upgrading. The Buccaneers took Jameis Winston number one overall in the draft and since he is expected to start right away, some around the NFL think the Bucs could move Glennon and use a veteran as Winston's backup.

Glennon does not have that much experience starting in the NFL, but he has shown off some solid potential and that value could be worth more on the market for the Bucs than as a backup for Winston. Glennon is just 25 years old and according to Matt Williamson at ESPN.com, there are teams that could be good fits for Glennon this summer if the Buccaneers look at trading the quarterback. Williamson picked a number of teams, including the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills and New York Giants as potential options.

Williamson writes that Glennon could fit as a better backup or starter for various teams and both the Jets and Seahawks also could fit in that group. Glennon has experience in a pro-style offense and with the Browns, Bills and Jets all dealing with subpar QB situations, Glennon could be a target to get added to the mix. After minicamp the next big thing on the schedule is training camp and Glennon could get attention as it gets closer. Ryan Mallett was traded early in the season to the Texans from the Pats, but all that started with interest in a deal from training camp.

Williamson writes that "QB needy teams" like the Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills, did not add a quarterback in the draft and now they could look at Glennon as an option. Williamson also adds the Bears in that mix, as the situation behind Jay Cutler is not deep with Jimmy Clausen the main backup in Chicago. Cutler has been up and down, but with his salary he is the main starter, but Clausen has not drawn much confidence from the new coaching staff, especially after his bad performance coming in for Cutler during last season.

Jeff Dickerson at ESPN Chicago picked up on the Williamson article and wrote a report about the Bears QB situation regarding Cutler, Clausen and Glennon. Cutler is entrenched as the starter at least to open the season after being mentioned in numerous trade reports this offseason, but if he struggles again, the Bears may want a better option than Clausen. Glennon has a strong arm and that could translate well to the tough winds of Chicago and with past reports having Glennon costing a mid-round pick, it could be worth it to upgrade behind Cutler in case and injury happens.
