The Toronto Blue Jays are thriving after being on the bring of franchise history as their win streak of 11 games was snapped by the New York Mets. However, the team bounced back for three straight home wins after beating the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night and the team is looking to keep momentum thriving. Marco Estrada certainly did his best, carrying a no-hitter into the eighth innings and now Mark Buehrle will try and keep things moving.
The Friday win gave Toronto a nine-game home win streak while 10 would break a franchise record. They are currently outscoring opponents 62-23 at home and the pitching has matched. Buehrle has beaten Orioles four straight times, so he is the best man to keep things going as he has a 3.50 ERA against Baltimore while putting up a 4.14 ERA against everyone else. There are some Baltimore hitters with success off the pitcher. Delmon Young is batting .373 with four home runs while Adam Jones is hitting .410 with two home runs. Buehrle struggled in a recent start against the Mets, but still has a 1.23 ERA in his last three starts.
The Orioles will send Kevin Gausman to the mound who is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA. He is getting his first start of the season after being on the disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis. He has only appeared as a relieved against the Orioles, going 1-1 with a 3.78 ERA . The Blue Jays are not happy with Orioles at the moment after Jose Bautista was hit by pitch on Friday and both benches were then warned.
Toronto has been dominating opponents thanks to balance to the team. The starting pitchers have a 1.74 ERA in the past five games while opponents have been limited to just one home run during that time span. The Orioles have been inconsistent while being forced to find different ways to pull out a win. The Blue Jays have beaten the Orioles seven out of ten meetings so far this year. Their batting lineup has 43 extra-base hits in that time.
