Rangers vs. Athletics Results: Oakland Wins, Ties Texas in A.L. West

Baseball will have another exciting Game 162. The Oakland Athletics tied the Texas Rangers for the first spot in the American League West. Jonny Gomes hit a bomb that gave the A's 3-1 cushion in the sixth inning.

Catcher Derek Norris also had a big hit earlier in the game. He gave the A's their first lead of the game in the fifth inning taking a Matt Harrison breaking ball to right field plating two runs, giving the A's a 2-1 lead.

In the fifth inning, Josh Donaldson set the table with a base hit. Brandon Moss then followed with a long hit to right, which he stretched to a double. With runners on second and third with no outs, Norris got the big hit for the winner.

The A's could not ask more from their pitcher Travis Blackley. He gave them six innings of one-run baseball. Blackley gave up three hits, two walks and struckout five in his outing.

Harrison pitched decently, but he did not get any run support. He threw six innings, allowed three runs on six hits, one walk and one strikeout.

Josh Hamilton drove in the only Rangers' run with a double to right field. For Miguel Cabrera this was good news, his triple crown is still intact and Hamilton is the only player who can mess this up.

Tomorrow's game is in the afternoon. It will begin at 3:25 p.m. ET/12:25 p.m. ET.

A.J. Griffin will get the ball for Oakland and the Rangers will send Ryan Dempster to the mound.

It is simple. The team that wins takes the A.L. West
