Dallas Mavericks Rumors: Jason Terry, Jeremy Lin Signed After JJ Barea Contract? DeAndre Jordan, Wesley Matthews Deals Hurt Eric Bledsoe, Brandon Jennings Trades

The Dallas Mavericks made major improvements to the roster during NBA free agency with DeAndre Jordan and Wesley Matthews. Now the only thing left is to replace the departing Rajon Rondo as point guard depth is an issue. The Mavericks never considered bringing Rondo back as the veteran signed a one-year deal with the Sacramento Kings, but they could instead bring on some other familiar faces to fix the issue.

According to Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Dia and confirmed by NBA.com's David Aldridge, JJ Barea is returning back to Dallas on a two-year, $5.6 million contract. The deal for the guard is a steal for the Mavericks as he will likely help replace Rondo. The 31-year-old has had more success in Dallas than with any other team and the Mavericks are hopeful he can bring some stability to the position.

Despite the signing of Barea, the Mavericks are still being linked to Jeremy Lin with a potential contract. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the Mavericks are still considering a deal for Lin that would involve a sign-and-trade with the Los Angeles Lakers. The 26-year-old is a current free agent for the team and has had little interest around him for the time being. The Mavericks would likely send Raymond Felton to Los Angeles and try to get Lin signed to a smaller contract. The Mavericks would be a solid landing spot for the point guard to get out of the spotlight and focus on improving.

The Mavericks are not stopping there as they continue to try to add depth to the point guard position. According to Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News, the Mavericks are eyeing a return of Jason Terry who was a big part of the 2011 title run for the franchise. Terry is considered one of the better players still on the board in free agency and there is no questioning the success he found in Dallas. Terry is not going to be offered anything more than a veteran's minimum deal, but he could find some good playing time in Dallas.

The Mavericks have always struggled at the point guard position. There has never been enough consistency on the court with it. Getting three mid-level players signed to the roster might at least help it be productive in the coming season.
