NFL Free Agent Rumors: Evan Mathis, Shonn Greene Targets For Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears For Training Camp?

The NFL free agent market has names like Evan Mathis, Shonn Greene, Wes Welker and Chris Johnson available and heading into training camp teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, NY Giants and San Francisco 49ers could take a look at adding to the roster to help with depth and injuries.

Mathis is one of the top players left and he comes in after being released by the Eagles after dealing with a contract issue the past two years. Mathis has had interest from a number of teams and the Miami Herald reports that Mathis said that his options on signing with a team will be very clear "in a week or two" heading into training camp. Greene, Chris Johnson and Ben Tate are some of the notable running backs left on the market, while Wes Welker, James Jones and Reggie Wayne are some notable wideouts still without teams.

The Dallas Cowboys looked like they could add a running back this offseason, but the team appears comfortable with what they have on the roster. The team has Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden at the top of the depth chart, while Ryan Williams, Lance Dunbar and Lache Seastrunk are also on the roster. The team worked out Ben Tate, Felix Jones and Daniel Thomas this offseason, but the team did not end up bringing in any of those players, at least not yet.

Mathis is expected to get a decent deal if he signs a one year contract, as Mathis is considered to be one of the best guards in the league. Mathis was released by the Eagles after not being able to agree on a new deal and reports have the Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders as potential landing spots for the lineman. Earlier in the offseason the Miami Herald reported that the dolphins were interested, but that they did not want to get into a "bidding war" to sign Mathis.

Greene comes in after being released by the Titans, as he was the odd man out with Dexter McCluster, Bishop Sankey and David Cobb on the roster. Greene comes in after rushing for 392 yards in 13 games last season for the Titans and he was let go despite signing a three-year, $10 million contract with the team. Greene could be a camp option for the Cowboys, Bears or 49ers and he previously had two back to back 1,000 yard seasons for the Jets.

According to John Clayton at ESPN.com, Mathis is a target for the 49ers after his release, as the team had Anthony Davis retire during the offseason. The team has undergone some major changes this offseason and could use a veteran presence on the offensive line. The team has some cap space and could sign Mathis and this comes as Clayton reports that the Indianapolis Colts, Chiefs and Dolphins are also potential fits. Mathis likely will sign a short-term deal with whatever team he joins this offseason.
