Indianapolis Colts Rumors: TY Hilton Contract Coming After Demaryius Thomas, Dez Bryant Agree To New Deals?

The Indianapolis Colts and TY Hilton are heading towards potential contract talks, as the wide receiver is coming into the final year of his deal and with Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas signing new, lucrative contracts to stay in Denver and Dallas, Hilton could be in line to pick up on a major deal at the position.

Bryant and Thomas both signed deals ahead of the deadline after being hit with franchise tags this offseason and now Hilton looks like he is ready to get paid as well. According to Pro Football Talk, Hilton wrote on Twitter after the deals were signed: ""Does this mean the bar is set??" Hilton has been very productive for the Colts over the past two seasons and he has established himself as one of the best young receivers in football. Hilton may now want Bryant/Thomas money after those players signed five-year, $70 million deals.

Pro Football Talk writes that owner Jim Irsay said that the team hoped to get an extension "done" with Hilton "sooner than later" and that could lead to talks. Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star later reported that "all signs indicate" Hilton will finish out his deal and hit free agency at the end of the season. Hilton has one year left on his deal for $1.542 million.

Hilton had his best career season last year with 82 catches for 1345 yards and seven touchdowns and over the past three seasons he has put up 26 TD grabs with the Colts. Hilton had his first 1000 yard season in year two in 2013 and he has only missed on game in the last two seasons. Hilton has great speed and explosive ability and averaged 16 yards per catch last season.

The team appears to be at least preparing for the possibility of Hilton leaving, as the Colts brought in Phillip Dorsett with their first round pick in the draft. The Colts also have to sign Andrew Luck at some point and that could play into what the team decides to do with Hilton.
