Los Angeles Lakers Rumors 2012: Will Championships Stall Kobe's Retirement In 2013-14?

When discussing his basketball mortality, Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant grows increasingly at ease with the reality that his NBA career is nearing an end.

Coming into the upcoming 2012-13 NBA season, Bryant will have his sights set on winning the elusive sixth championship.

Even though the chances of winning that sixth championship appear high, especially with Bryant playing alongside Steve Nash and Dwight Howard this year, the future Hall of Fame shooting guard remains content with retiring at the end of his current contract with the Lakers according to Ken Berger of CBSSports.com.

"It's just that three more years seems like a really long time to continue to stay at a high, high level of training and preparation and health," Bryant said. "That's a lot of years. For a guard? That's a lot of years."

Playing alongside with Nash and Howard may benefit Bryant in terms of him not having to shoulder the scoring load over the next two years and as a result not taking that much of a toll on his aging body.

Although as of now Bryant appears very adamant about retiring  after two seasons, anything is possible from now until the 2013-14 season.

If the Lakers manage to prove their dominance on paper to being the actual thing and win a championship, Bryant may be compelled to stay with the Lakers for additional years long as possible championship runs are still in reach.
