Arsenal Transfer News: Bacary Sagna Tips Jenkinson to Become the Best, Happy to Make Successful Comeback from Injury

Bacary Sagna has been one of the most consistent players for Arsenal in the past few years, and the French international could not hide his delight at making his comeback from a broken leg in the Gunners' Under-21 game against Reading.

Sagna has seen his right-back position being admirably filled by youngster Carl Jenkinson in his absence. The 20-year-old has hardly put a foot wrong in any of Arsenal's games this year, with it ensuring Sagna was not missed too much in the early part of the season.

Sagna believes Jenkinson has the capabilities to be the best in his position. "He has been really good, and has learned a lot," Sagna told Arsenal's official website. "He is a bit more confident with the ball, and is very solid as a defender.

"He brings a lot to the team, and I am very happy for him because he is a hard worker, a very good guy and is going to be one of the best."

Sagna got his first minutes on the pitch since his return from injury in the Gunners' 2-0 win against Reading Monday, and the defender was happy to see his comeback go according to plan.

"It is amazing to be back, I have been waiting for this moment for five months," Sagna said. "This was my target -- to come back and play, firstly for the under-21 team. Everything went well and we won, so I am very happy.

"I have been working really hard. I spent some time in the rehab centre, then I came back and worked really hard with the fitness coach and the physios to be ready to play -- and finally I have.

The Frenchman fractured his fibula against Norwich in May, the second time in 12 months, and the experienced right-back admitted to being frustrated at suffering the same injury twice in such a short space of time.

"When you have such a big injury once, you take it, but twice is hard," he added. "In my mind I was a bit sad, but the next day I was ready for the challenge, which was to come back stronger and I am in a good way today."

Sagna, who has not really set a target to make a first-team return, admitted to being impressed with Arsenal's start to the season, where they have lost just one game, with the former Auxerre man confident his side can compete for the English Premier League title this year.

"We have been solid," he said. "I think we can win the league. We have to take it step by step, but we have the quality necessary to play until the end of the season and win."
