Group I of the World Cup Qualifiers will feature Belarus taking on the heavily world cup favorite Spain at 2:00 p.m. ET.
The Spanish have won their last 23 qualifying matches, stretching back more than five years.
Spain last failed to win a qualifying match for either the World Cup or European Championship in September 2007, when it drew 1-1 with Iceland in Reykjavik.
Since then, the team has won an unprecedented three straight major tournaments and began its bid for a fourth by beating Georgia 1-0 last month.
With a win on Friday, Spain hope to tie France for first place in the Group I rankings. Belarus' home advantage may prove to be a lofty challenge for Spain to overcome to secure the three points needed.
Belarus midfielders Anton Putsila and Timofei Kalachev will miss Friday's World Cup qualifier against Spain at the Dynama Stadium in Minsk.
The injured duo join forward Leonid Kovel on the sidelines, leaving BATE Borisov's Vitali Rodionov as the only recognised striker in the squad.
