The Washington Redskins made a big move on Friday by inking recently released linebacker Junior Galette to a one year deal.
The financials have not yet been released but one could assume Galette came cheap due to his off the field issues. Galette also may be suspended and due to the seriousness of his charges it could be a lengthy one. This deal has to include a clause that says the Redskins will not pay him while he is suspended or else they will be in for a world of hurt.
Galette on paper will improve the Redskins line backing core significantly.
Galette will be the assumed starter while Trent Murphy should fall to the 2nd string, the newly drafted Preston Smith could make a push as well for the right outside linebacker spot. With Smith, Galette, left outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan, and Perry Riley it will be interesting to see just how much pressure the Redskins can create.
This is all dependent on how long Galette will be suspended for; it is extremely unlikely the Saints just released him because they didn't like him. Galette punched a teammate in the face and still was voted their defensive captain, and with domestic violence as hot an issue as it's been in the NFL, expect a suspension to be handed down soon.
