New York Jets News: Sheldon Richardson Arrested, More Games Added To Suspension Soon?

Sheldon Richardson is having a pretty rough month. Richardson was suspended by the league for four games for a failed marijuana test and now has a brand new scandal on his hands.

The Jet's defensive end apparently evaded and resisted arrest near his St. Louis home around July 14th. Richardson driving a 2014 Bentley led police on a high speed chase and then attempted to fool officers by parking in a strangers garage and turning off all of his lights. Richardson supposedly forgot that his brake lights were still on and police found him instantly.

What Richardson had in the car is the most alarming part. Richardson had a fully loaded semi-automatic weapon and a 12 year old child at his feet among three other adult males. The car supposedly smelled like marijuana and Richardson was driving at 143 mph. Richardson attempted to hide this most recent arrest from the Jets however it came to light anyway. An hour before news of this arrest came out Richardson released this statement,

"I'm not a dope fiend, man, I apologized to my teammates and this organization. I told them they don't have to worry about my name being in the news again."

Richardson was the only individual charged in the incident and because the gun was purchased legally, and there was no marijuana to be found he was not charged for it. He also somehow escaped any child endangerment charges as well however this might not be enough for the league office to not add more games to his suspension.

Richardson stated

"Seeing yourself going from the Pro Bowl to second string, you can't do nothing but be disappointed with yourself."
