The United States are one point away from moving on to the qualifying round of the 2014 World Cup as they take on Guatemala at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Fortunately, the U.S. will be playing in front of their home crowd at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park in Kansas City. Their last home game resulted in a convincing 1-0 win over Jamaica in Columbus, continuing a strong run that hasn't seen the USA lose a home game in World Cup qualification since 2001.
The U.S. merely needs to draw with Guatemala for both teams to advance from Group A in World Cup qualifying, while a result one way or the other would give Jamaica an outside chance of squeaking through to the final round.
Eddie Johnson saved the United States from embarrassment in their last game against Antigua and Barbuda, allowing the Americans to pull out a vastly important 2-1 win. That saved them from being under too much pressure going into their game against Guatemala.
Guatemala will enter the match with several injuries hitting their team.
Carlos Gallardo, Elias Vasquez and Luis Rodriguez are all dealing with injuries, meaning that Guatemala will probably be forced into using a makeshift back line.
