NFL Fantasy Football Preview: 5 Sleeper Running Backs for 2015 Season

1. Tre Mason (St. Louis Rams): Tre Mason will get the majority of carries to start the season. The Rams were a little low on Mason after last season but really they only have their offensive line to blame. Mason was a rookie, this year Mason comes in with a chip on his shoulder ready to show everyone what he's made of. The Rams are going to be as cautious with Gurley as they possibly can so Mason could be their lead back for a while.

2. Devonta Freeman/Tevin Coleman (Atlanta Falcons): Either one of these running backs would make for a suitable starter. Coleman has the size and power, while Freeman has the explosiveness and elusiveness you would want in a running back. The Falcons are ultimately going to have to make a decision on who gets the majority of carries. Currently Freeman is winning the battle of who starts but both players will score points this season.

3. Danny Woodhead (San Diego Chargers): Woodhead is the passing down running back and the only back capable of protecting Phillip Rivers. Woodhead should be on the field every time they pass the ball. He will also be able to catch the ball out of the backfield which makes him a bigger threat to opposing offenses.

4. C.J. Spiller (New Orleans Saints): Spiller like Woodhead should be involved during passing downs however he can be used as a change of pace back as well. The Saints will look to exploit defenses with Spillers speed and agility which can make him a deadly passing threat.

5. Giovani Bernard (Cincinnati Bengals): Bernard will now be the change of pace back, which means he will not be taking the beating a starting running back would have to endure. Now defenses will be stacking the box against Jeremy Hill and Giovanni Bernard will be left with the element of surprise. Bernard will likely be a factor in the screen pass game as well as a receiver out of the backfield. Bernard should not be as banged up as he was last year thanks to his new role.
