Lakers Free Agent Rumors: Jonathan Holmes Signs, Bobby Brown, Brendan Haywood, Toure Murry, Norris Cole, Eric Moreland Options For Roster Depth?

The LA Lakers are currently working to finish off their roster heading into training camp and the team could bring in players like Bobby Brown, Brendan Haywood, Toure Murry, Norris Cole, Eric Moreland or Sean Kilpatrick as free agent options to help with depth behind Roy Hibbert, D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle.

According to Marc Stein at ESPN, the Lakers have worked out a number of players that could be camp options, including Bobby Brown, Toure Murry, Eric Moreland and Sean Kilpatrick. The team also could look at other free agents on the market, including Norris Cole or Brendan Haywood. The Lakers were interested in JaVale McGee, but he signed with the Mavericks. Haywood could be an option for depth behind Hibbert, while Cole is unlikely since he is a restricted free agent.

The Lakers have signed undrafted forward Jonathan Holmes to a contract, according to RealGM. The team signed Holmes to a multi-year contract and it comes after he played for the Celtics in the summer league. Holmes may get the chance to compete for a roster spot and he averaged 12 points and six rebounds while playing eight games overall.

The Lakers could look at making a deal down the line to give more depth behind Hibbert and Robert Sacre. The Lakers now have some depth up front with Julius Randle, Hibbert and Brandon Bass on the roster. Carlos Boozer remains on the free agent market after playing with the Lakers last season, but the team has not shown interest in bringing him back.

Hibbert should be the starter at center and he now has the chance to bounce back after a tough couple of years in Indiana. Hibbert basically played himself out of a starting job with his performance in the second half of last season and now he has a fresh start in Los Angeles. Brendan Haywood was traded by the Cavaliers and waived by the Blazers this offseason and he remains available.

The team had Jeremy Lin after a trade with the Houston Rockets last year, but he is with the Hornets and the team now has Jordan Clarkson and D'Angelo Russell taking over. The key for the Lakers is having Kobe Bryant back healthy and while he is not the player he once was, Bryant still is one of the best skilled in the league and if he plays more than 70 games the team likely will be better than last season. The Lakers had their worst season in years last season with Bryant on the sidelines, but the team at least got D'Angelo Russell out of it in the draft.
