The NFL preseason Week 1 schedule started on Thursday night and the results had the Baltimore Ravens beating the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers winners over the Patriots, Lions taking down the Jets, while the Bears, Redskins and Chargers were victorious over the Dolphins, Browns and Cowboys in the exhibition matchups.
The Saints won over the Ravens 30-27 and the game saw Matt Schaub lead the way with 134 passing yards, while Lorenzo Taliaferro and Michael Campanaro were tops in rushing and receiving. In most games the starters only played for a series or two and playing time should tick up as the weeks go on. The Packers won over the New England Patriots 22-11 and Jimmy Garoppolo had a tough night, but he should only get better with time.
Jonas Gray led the Patriots in rushing with 74 yards, while James White was tops in receiving yards in the game. The Lions won over the Jets 23-3 and the team now has to find a way to bounce back with Geno Smith out. Dan Orlovsky led in passing yards for the Lions, while Ameer Abdullah looked good and Greg Salas led in receiving yards for the Jets.
The Bears won 27-10 against the Miami Dolphins and Jimmy Clausen led with 151 passing yards, while Senorise Perry and Cobi Hamilton were the other leaders. The Redskins won over the Browns 20-17 and that game saw Kirk Cousins lead the way with Alfred Morris leading in rushing. The Chargers won over the Cowboys 17-7 and the game saw Branden Oliver lead in rushing and Gavin Escobar lead in receiving yards.
