Another major injury occurred in the Green Bay Packers/ Pittsburgh Steelers week 2 pre-season game. Starting center Maurkice Pouncey suffered what is believed to be a broken ankle during the contest and potentially miss the entire 2015 NFL season.
The initial assessment is that Pouncey could be out for half of the season however with his rehabilitation it is unknown if he would be able to return. Pouncey was seen limping off the field after words. Pouncey has been a key piece of the Steelers offensive line and without him their offense could suffer a great deal.
Pouncey has been the main guy protecting Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, he also has been an effective cog in the run game so his absence could hurt both the rushing and passing game.
The current replacement for Pouncey will be former 4th round pick/San Francisco 49er, Cody Wallace and the 6'4, 318 pound rookie BJ Finney. Wallace has been an NFL journeyman for the past few seasons after getting cut by the San Francisco 49ers. Wallace signed with the Detroit Lions and was placed on their practice squad before being released.
He also had brief stints on the New York Jets and the Houston Texans practice squads. He was later signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and appeared in eight games during the 2012 season.
