Coming off a dominant win against Texas last week, Oklahoma could easily fall into a trap of complacency against Big 12 rival Kansas.

The team is ranked 9th in the nation and has won two straight since losing a tough game 24-19 to the Kansas State Wildcats. The team is trying to work themselves back into the national title picture and will have a chance to earn another high profile victory next week against Notre Dame.

But this week, it's all about the Jayhawks for Oklahoma.

"It shouldn't matter at all the team that we're going to play," safety Javon Harris said. "Kansas is going to come in here and play lights out against us. We know any team that we play is going to play to their max potential, and it's going to be up to us on what we do."

Oklahoma is 4-1 on the year and 2-1 in the Big 12 following last Saturday's emphatic 63-21 victory against Texas.

"We've got a pretty good record after Texas. Our season doesn't begin and end with Texas," head coach Bob Stoops said Monday to the Associated Press. "It never has. So, in the end, we'll be ready to play."

Oklahoma has been prolific on offense this season, ranking 21st in rushing yards and 31st in the nation in passing yards. The team as scored an average of 43 points per game, good for 9th in the country. The defense has pitched in as well, allowing only 17 points per game.

"I think the big thing we've learned from last year is that everything kind of affects what you're doing on the football field. It affects what kind of team and what kind of discipline you have on the team," quarterback Landry Jones said. "Last year, we had countless guys missing class, late for class, doing all those type of things and those hurt us on the field because they got suspended for practice and got suspended for games."

Jones has been solid this season, throwing for nine touchdowns and over 1300 yards.

"It's kind of the same type of situation that we're in now," Jones said. "We just have to keep this momentum, keep building on it and who knows what's going to happen? There's a lot of football left."

Kansas has struggled mightily this season under head coach Charlie Weis, going 1-5 and losing all three Big 12 conference games.

Jones and Oklahoma are poised to have a big game offensively against a weak Kansas secondary. The Jayhawks have struggled on offense this season as well, scoring only 19 points per game and ranking 37th in passing yards.

Kansas hasn't won a game against Oklahoma in over ten years and have lost 15 straight games on the road.
