NY Knicks Rumors: Brandon Jennings, Jose Calderon Trade Over Jamal Crawford, Ricky Rubio as Carmelo Anthony Doubts Langston Galloway, Jerian Grant ?

Jose Calderon simply cannot find stability. The point guard continues to have his future brought into question with the New York Knicks as more and more point guards potentially become available in trades. It is no secret the New York Knicks have tried to deal away the veteran while searching for other upgrades. Team president Phil Jackson has openly admitted his disappointment in the lack of trade interest for Calderon while he attempted to acquire both Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe. So with Brandon Jennings potentially available, Calderon is once again on the market.

According to ESPN's Ian Begley, Calderon is not currently being shopped in trade deals, but that does not mean he will not be this season. The Knicks first want to see what they have at the point guard spot. Langston Galloway is coming off a breakout season, but only has a partially guaranteed deal to his name. Jerian Grant enters as a rookie with a lot of unknowns about him. Calderon is reportedly healthy and will be the main backup point guard while the Knicks determine the state of the roster. If either player excel, Calderon could be trade bait.

Calderon still holds a lot of weight in the league. He is a talent when healthy and several teams could eye him as a viable backup. The Detroit Pistons currently have a situation where they have two talented point guards. Reggie Jackson is getting paid starter money while Brandon Jennings returns healthy and ready to get the nod. According to the Detroit Free Press, Jennings could be available in mid-season deals should Jackson excel as the starter. The Knicks would gladly take Jennings as a long-term investment for Carmelo Anthony.

The Knicks have been linked to several options heading into the year. Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe reports that the Minnesota Timberwolves could make Ricky Rubio available and the international basketball site Sportando reported the Knicks as a potential landing spot. The same could be said for Bledsoe who is battling for time on the court with the newly re-signed Brandon Knight. Both players would be the elite point guard the Knicks wanted to acquire in the offseason, but failed to do. Jackson will keep an eye on the market once the year begins and Calderon will be the first available in a deal.
