It is currently being reported that the Redskins newest edge rusher, Junior Galette has torn his Achilles.
Galette was cut by the Saints due to a brewing scandal involving a bar brawl and his belt. The NFL was looking to suspend Galette for some serious time before injury has taken place.
Now it appears Galette will miss the whole season with a torn Achilles that he suffered in practice. Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said that he is "very concerned" about Galette's injury as the team is awaiting further tests. It will be interesting to note if the NFL still suspends Galette given these recent developments, maybe they feel an Achilles tear is enough.
Either way this is a harsh blow to what is supposed to be a revamped Redskins pass rush. Now they will have to rely completely on Ryan Kerrigan and rookie Preston Smith for production out of the left outside linebacker position.
The Redskins also have recently signed free agent Stephen Paea starting at left defensive end and former Dallas Cowboy Jason Hatcher starting at the right side. The biggest addition until Galette was nose tackle Terrance Knighton who will look to set the point of attack for the Redskins defense.
