NBA Rumors: Derrick Rose Accused of Rape, Drugging Ex-Girlfriend, TMZ Report On Bulls Star Called Outrageous By Lawyer

Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose has been accused by an ex-girlfriend of rape, drugging and sexual assault stemming from an alleged incident that took place in 2013 in Los Angeles, according to a TMZ report. Rose responded through a spokesman and called the lawsuit "outrageous."

TMZ released the report on Wednesday night and the accuser alleges that Rose was her boyfriend for an extended period from 2011-2013 and that he drugged her one night when they were together in Beverly Hills. According to the report, Rose was with two other people, a friend Ryan Allen and his personal manager Randall Hampton and they "invited" the accuser to the home of Rose, which is in the Beverly Hills section of Los Angeles.

The woman accuses the men of slipping a "drug into her drink" and that they had "the aim of raping her." The report continues with more allegations, including that the woman "escaped" from the home "with a friend" and that later on, Rose and his friends came to her apartment. The woman accuses the men of "gang raping her while she was incapacitated" and that she remembers "flashes" of what happened.

TMZ writes that the woman waited two years to file because she was "ashamed and embarrassed" about what happened. There have been no criminal charges filed related to the incident and both the Bulls and Rose, through a rep, responded to the allegations. According to KC Johnson at the Chicago Tribune, Rose's spokesperson called the allegations and the lawsuit "ridiculous" and that "plaintiff expressed no complaints about Mr. Rose until various lawyers began to surface" and "demand that the plaintiff be paid millions of dollars."

TMZ reports that Rose's lawyer, attorney Lisa Cohen said that the lawsuit is a "shakedown" and that the two were in a "non-exclusive, consensual sexual relationship for over two years" and that she has "confidence that the case will be dismissed." Rose is a superstar player for the Bulls and this comes on the heels of another player in Chicago getting accused of rape with Blackhawks star Patrick Kane also facing allegations from time he spent in his home city of Buffalo.

Pro Basketball Talk writes that there are "many questions" remaining about the situation and that it would be a "mistake to speculate" on what happened without more evidence or the case moving forward. Johnson added the Bulls quotes, which said: "We just learned about this matter and do not know all the facts, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."
