The LA Clippers may trade Jamal Crawford this year and teams like the Miami Heat and NY Knicks could be interested in a deal and this comes as the team reportedly has interest in free agents Chris Singleton, Glen Davis and Ryan Hollins.
The Clippers have made a number of additions already this offseason and that is one of the main reasons why Crawford has come up in trade rumors. The Clippers traded for Lance Stephenson and signed Paul Pierce, Pablo Prigioni, Wesley Johnson and Josh Smith, which could leave Crawford with a diminished role. Crawford is in the final year of his contract and according to Frank Isola at the New York Daily News, the NY Knicks and the Miami Heat could be potential landing spots.
The Clippers are also looking at free agent options available on the market, as reports have Chris Singleton, Glen Davis and Ryan Hollins getting attention from the team. Davis was with the team last year and Brad Turner from the Los Angeles Times reports that the Clippers are interested in bringing him back, but that "no deal" is close yet. Davis was a bench option for the team and Turner reports that Davis' reps have talked with the Clippers and the Mavericks about a potential deal.
The Clippers currently have 14 guaranteed contracts on the roster and that means they have one more spot open if they want to add someone. Turner also reports that the Clippers have "spoken" with Singleton's reps, but that there is "no deal in place" yet. Singleton has not played since before last season and would likely get a partial contract.
The Clippers are also reportedly in the mix for Ryan Hollins, as Yahoo Sports reports that the Kings, Wizards and Clippers have "interest" in the free agent. Hollins previously was with the Clippers and last season he played in 46 games for the Kings. The Kings have signed Kosta Koufos this offseason and Hollins likely would be a bench option behind Willie Cauley-Stein.
Miami has been looking to trade Mario Chalmers and/or Chris Andersen this summer and the Clippers could be an option if they don't sign any of the free agents they have been connected with. Andersen could be a fit for depth with Cole Aldrich and DeAndre Jordan, while Crawford is likely to get moved at some point based on the makeup of the roster. If Crawford stays he can still be a steady option off the bench, but with JJ Redick, Chris Paul, Jordan and Blake Griffin also in LA, shots will be hard to come by for the guard.
The Clippers could use another point guard, as Pro Basketball Talk writes that the team is a "little thin" at the position with just Pablo Prigioni and Austin Rivers behind Chris Paul. Mario Chalmers could be a target if the team makes a deal with the Miami Heat, while Jose Calderon has been mentioned as a target for Crawford with the Knicks.
