Jay Gruden has finally benched RGIII in favor of backup quarterback Kirk Cousins.
RGIII has been a notoriously bad fit with the Redskins and now the franchise quarterback may be looking for greener pastures. Jay Gruden was reportedly going to stick with RGIII if he was cleared by doctors to play in the 4th and final preseason game.
Gruden was assumed to be riding with the franchise quarterback until his wheels fell off however the Redskins may see some trade value in RGIII. The new starter Kirk Cousins had an impressive game on Sunday as he threw for 190 yards and a touchdown.
Cousins had been outplaying all the quarterbacks on the Redskins roster all preseason however he is finally getting his shot to lead the offense into the regular season. Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden stated,
"Kirk has done an outstanding job. Robert has done some great things no question, we have total faith in all three of them. But moving forward, with all the things we've studied over the course of training camp and OTAs, we just feel like Kirk has earned the right to be the starting quarterback for 2015."
Colt McCoy will get the start in the fourth and final preseason game.
