Lille vs Bayern Munich: Preview, Team News, Injuries, Predictions and Expected Lineups

In the biggest upset in the Champions League this year, Bayern Munich fell 3-1 to BATE Borisov in the last Matchday, and the German giants will be desperate to make up for the blemish when they travel to Lille Tuesday.

Last year's runners-up scored an impressive 5-0 victory over Fortuna Dusseldorf at the weekend and with the Thomas Muller, Franck Ribery and Toni Kroos hitting form, Lille will face a tough task to stop Jupp Heynckes' team.

"The Champions League is the most prestigious competition in football and we are going to give everything for a victory," Heynckes said. "When I look at our statistics I can see that we play well when we need to, and we win and get good results when we have to, even against big teams like Villarreal, Manchester City or Real Madrid.

"Our scouts went to watch Lille's weekend game against Bordeaux, and I saw it on television. Lille are one of the best teams in France, regardless of the league table. They are well organised and have a good structure.

"We are going to give everything we have and I am happy to have a number of experienced players."

Bayern have a good record against French sides in European competition, winning on their last two trips comfortably. Lille, on the other hand, have won just one out of five games against German teams and will need a perfect performance against Bayern to correct that statistic.

"We are playing one of the biggest sides in Europe so we will have to give it 120 percent and Bayern will have to have an off day if we want to get a positive result," Lille manager Rudi Garcia said. "It is David against Goliath.

"The most important thing for us is to believe we can do it. The only star in our club is our team. Frank Ribery is a tremendous player, but he is not the only one Bayern have -- it will be hard to defend against Müller, Kroos, etc, as well. We will have to try to prevent Ribery from getting the ball, but there will be no 'anti-Ribery' plan.

"We lost both of our previous games in the group so we are in difficult position and we have to get points from this game. We are getting more and more confident with a late goal against Bordeaux and two goals against Ajaccio in a game where we did not have a lot of chances (but won 2-0).

"We will have 50,000 at the stadium and the whole of France watching us on TV. We dream of playing games like this and we have to do our best."

In team news, David Alaba made a return from a broken leg in Bayern's 5-0 win on Saturday, while Arjen Robben continues to be troubled by muscle problems and will most likely miss the game. For Lille, playmaker Marvin Martin is expected to start, but Marko Basa remains a doubt, while Mathieu Debuchy is suspended.

Expected lineups: Lille: Landreau; Beria, Basa, Chedjou, Digne; Balmont, Pedretti, Martin; Payet, Kalou, Roux.

Bayern: Neuer; Lahm, Boateng, Badstuber, Alaba; Schweinsteiger, Luis Gustavo; Muller, Kroos, Ribery; Mandzukic.

Prediction: 2-0 to Bayern
