Miami Marlins Rumors and News: Giancarlo Stanton Returning Soon, Friday Unlikely Against New York Mets

The Miami Marlins are expecting to get slugger Giancarlo Stanton back soon, but the team may have to wait a bit longer, as reports have Stanton still needing some time before he can be activated from the disabled list.

Stanton was placed on the DL near the end of June after breaking a bone in his right hand and he has not appeared in a game since. According to MLB.com, Stanton was expected to be activated on Friday for the series against the Mets, but he is not quite ready. Joe Frisaro reports that it's "doubtful" that Stanton will be back for the Marlins on Friday and may not be ready for any games of the series.

The Marlins are not in playoff contention and have no reason to bring back Stanton before he is ready. Stanton was having a monster season when he was injured, putting up 27 home runs and 67 RBI in 74 games. Stanton could get the chance to push over 30 home runs again if he comes back over the next week or two.
