Tyson Chandler's Knee Injury Is Scheduled For An MRI

In their final preseason game, the New York Knicks added another name to their already long list of injuries before the season opener Nov. 1st.

Knicks center Tyson Chandler left the Knicks locker room Wednesday night on crutches after injuring his left knee while setting screen, and colliding with the Brooklyn Nets' Gerald Wallace.

The injury occurred just 44 seconds into overtime, which ended with a 97-95 victory in favor of the Knicks.

At the moment of the collision between Chandler and Wallace, Chandler immediately dropped to the floor clutching onto his left leg. After several minutes of laying on the court, face grimacing in pain, Chandler hobbled over to the Knicks bench.

Knicks staff original called the injury a left knee sore, but Chandler feels the injury is more serious than it seems and will have an MRI on his left knee Thursday.

"I just feel like I have a sprain or something like that," Chandler said. "I'm sure I'll stay off it the next couple of days and then pick up work with my teammates leading into the first game of the season."

The Knicks have their season opener a week from Thursday in Brooklyn. With the long list of injuries they already have to deal with, the Knicks can't afford to have Chandler sit for a lengthy number of days.

While power forward Amar'e Stoudemire has already been ruled out for two to three weeks, the Knicks will need last year's Defensive Player of the Year to anchor the Knicks in the paint.
