Some major fantasy football players are injured heading into Week 2, as players like Andre Ellington, Mike Evans, TY Hilton, Victor Cruz, Tre Mason, Demaryius Thomas, Delanie Walker, Derek Carr and CJ Spiller are ailing and fantasy owners should keep an eye on these players for next week.
Hilton is one of the top players to watch heading into next week, as he is dealing with a knee issue and could be out for a couple games. NFL.com reports that Hilton is day to day, but his knee will be checked on this week and what happens in practice could determine if he plays or not. The Colts had a bad game in Week 1 against the Bills and they need Hilton to stay healthy. Andre Ellington went down with an injury, while players like Tre Mason, Victor Cruz, Mike Evans and CJ Spiller were not active for Week 1.
Dez Bryant broke a bone in his foot against the NY Giants on Sunday night football and that could keep him out for a month or more. The Cowboys were able to win without Bryant being 100 percent and now the team is going to have to find a way to get by without him. Bryant signed a big contract in the offseason and now the team will have to use Terrance Williams, Devin Street and Cole Beasley more with Bryant out. The running game also could get a boost.
Hilton is a player to watch and fantasy owners could grab names like Phillip Dorsett or Donte Moncrief to help make up for his loss if he is out. Hilton is dealing with a knee injury and he finished his day with a solid seven catches for 88 yards with 14 targets from Andrew Luck. Hilton, Bryant and Thomas all signed contracts in the offseason and all of them are dealing with various levels of injuries.
Andre Ellington went down with a knee injury and while he said he "felt good" after the game, the Cardinals likely will be cautious. Last season Ellington dealt with injuries and if he is hit again, David Johnson and Chris Johnson likely will be the lead backs until he is ready to return. Mike Evans was inactive for Week 1 after dealing with a hamstring injury in the preseason. Evans had a breakout rookie season and Jameis Winston's performance showed how much he will be needed moving forward. Evans could be out again unless he improves and practices this week.
Cruz was held out with a calf injury and it could be a couple more weeks until he makes it onto the field. The Giants need Cruz and they would love to have him and Odell Beckham on the field together. Thomas is dealing with a hand and knee issue after the game on Sunday, but neither injury is expected to be serious. Keep an eye on Thomas through the week just in case. Tre Mason and CJ Spiller were also out this week and those players are ones to watch moving forward, as they could be key for fantasy owners once they get back onto the field.
