The UEFA Champions League group stage started up this week and the results saw Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, Sevilla and Juventus all win their matches. Man City lost against Juventus, while Manchester United opened with a loss to PSV Eindhoven.
The Champions League group stage will last over the next few months before moving into the next round and this is the first week of matchups for teams. Juventus started off with a victory against Manchester City and that was a 2-1 score and a rare blemish for Man City with the way they have been playing in the EPL. PSV won over Man United, while Atletico won over Galatasaray.
Benfica, Wolfsburg and Real Madrid all won their opening week matches. The schedule continues on Wednesday and some of the teams in action include Chelsea, Olympiakos, Bayern Munich, Lyon, Barcelona, Roma and Bayer. Chelsea will play against Maccabi Tel-Aviv, while Arsenal is playing against Dinamo and Porto is playing against Dynamo Kyiv. Barcelona is playing against Roma, while Gent is playing against Lyon.
PSV Eindhoven hosted Manchester United and Man U fell 2-1 in the opening match of group play and they now will try and regroup for their next match later on the schedule. Luke Shaw was injured in the match and that took some of the boost from Man United and they simply could not find their way against PSV on Tuesday. Ronaldo had a hat trick against Shakhtar Donetsk in the 4-0 victory for Real Madrid.
