NFL Fantasy Football Weekend Recap Week 2: Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles, Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, Jason Witten, Brandon Weeden, Randy Gregory

Dallas Cowboys

Tony Romo (Quarterback): The big story for Romo is the broken clavicle he suffered in the third quarter of Sunday's contest. The injury is to Romo's left clavicle not the one on his throwing arm which is relieving to Cowboys fans and fantasy owners alike. Romo avoided surgery but the team placed him on short term IR recall. He will be eligible to play in week 11 against the Miami Dolphins.

Joseph Randle/Darren McFadden/Lance Dunbar (Running Backs): Randle was the lead back again finishing the day with 18 carries, 51 yards, and 1 catch for 14 yards. Randle is clearly the Cowboys go to running back and they may not attempt alter this rushing game with Romo out. McFadden had 8 less carries and finished the day with 10. He had 31 yards on the ground but appeared to be more effective in the air hauling in 2 receptions for 21 yards. Dunbar's place was strictly in the passing game where he hauled in 3 out of 5 targets for 45 yards. He also had 1 carry for 8 yards.

Terrance Williams/Cole Beasley (Wide Receivers): Williams finally had a breakout game as the number 1 wide receiver for the Cowboys finishing the day hauling in 4 out of 7 targets for 84 yards and a touchdown. William's role should decrease as the Cowboys lean more on the rushing game to keep the ball out of Weeden's hands but he had great chemistry with the veteran backup. Beasley had a tougher day in the slot bringing in 4 out of his 5 targets but only for 14 yards.

Jason Witten (Tight End): Witten was one of the main targets in this contest however was banged up in the process. For week 3 he is apparently dealing with knee and ankle sprains which should help complicate his status for most of the week. Witten finished the day catching 7 of 8 targets for 56 yards.

Philadelphia Eagles

DeMarco Murray/Ryan Mathews/Darren Sproles (Running Back): The main thing you need to remember here is Murray finished the game with 2 yards rushing, Mathews had 0, and Sproles had -4. Any upside as well as any confidence the Eagles had in their ground game evaporated on Sunday. As a collective rushing for -2 yards is not easy it almost seemed impossible. If you can trade Murray while he still holds some form of cryptic value because it is clear that his chariot has turned into a pumpkin.

Jordan Matthews/Nelson Agholor (Wide Receivers): Matthews was the clear number 1 option for this Eagles offense, but the Eagles offense is absolutely terrible. Matthews was a great embodiment of that, dropping a handful of important catches any number 1 wide receiver should make. Matthews finished his day by bringing in 6 out of 9 targets for 80 yards and a touchdown. Matthews scored in garbage time and even that instilled very little confidence in him as a consistent fantasy number 1 wide out. Nelson Agholor went 3 for 6 from the field only gaining 31 yards in the process.

Waiver Wire Targets:

Gavin Escobar (DAL): Escobar could be in for a big week 3 if Witten misses any time. This is Brandon Weeden's last chance at playing for the Dallas Cowboys and if he falters the Cowboys will likely draft a quarterback or find a better backup in free agency. If Escobar is the only tight end the Cowboys have he will see a truckload of targets.
