The Oakland Raiders saw Michael Crabtree have a strong game on Sunday and in Week 3 he is a fantasy sleeper option for Derek Carr along with starters Amari Cooper and Latavius Murray. The Raiders have also claimed David Amerson on waivers after the Washington Redskins released the cornerback.
The Raiders are coming into Week 3 after a win over the Ravens and the team put up some strong offensive numbers with 37 points. The Ravens are expected to be a strong team this year and the win could give the Raiders some confidence as they get to a tough part of the schedule. The team has three of the next four on the road and four of the next six away from home. The team plays the Browns this weekend before taking on the Bears in Chicago.
Crabtree is coming in after his best game in a long time, as the receiver had nine catches for 111 yards and a touchdown on Sunday against the Raiders. Crabtree is a solid sleeper option moving forward and fantasy owners should see some real upside after he received 16 targets from Derek Carr. Amari Cooper is the number one receiver and will get the main attention from defenses, but Crabtree is a very solid option if he can stay consistent.
Last season Crabtree had a bounce back year after dealing with injuries and while his numbers were not up to what he did in 2012, he still was productive for the 49ers. Crabtree had 68 catches last season for 698 yards and four TDs and this season he has 14 catches for 148 yards in two games for the Raiders. Derek Carr had a strong game against the Ravens and with a weak defense coming up in Week 3, he is worth looking at for fantasy owners as well. Carr had 351 passing yards in the game and added three touchdowns with one interception in the victory.
Carr started all 16 games last season for the Raiders and had 21 touchdowns and 12 picks and the team is expecting him to continue moving in the right direction in his development. It's only two games, but Carr has already improved his completion percentage from last season, as he has been hitting on 63 percent of his throws.
Cooper and Murray both have the chance to put up numbers this week against the Browns. The team looked good on offense against a solid Ravens defense last week and now the Raiders have the chance to win two in a row after being dominated in Week 1.
The Raiders have also added to the secondary, as NFL.com reports that the team picked up David Amerson after he was placed on waivers by the Washington Redskins. Jeremy Bergman reports that Amerson was held out of the game against the Rams for the Redskins and was later placed on waivers. Amerson was a former second round pick and he fell out of favor in Washington with inconsistent play. The Raiders have been banged up in the secondary and now have added some depth.
