Hurricane Sandy has wreaked havoc up and down the East coast, forcing New York City to basically shut down.
The weather has affected public transportation, the subways, the roads, the highways, and now it's hit one more thing: the NFL.
The league announced on Monday that the trading deadline would be moved back two days to Thursday to help avoid any issues related to Hurricane Sandy. The league had previously moved the deadline back after an agreement with the players union from Week 6 to after Week 8 games.
According to the Associated Press, the league made the deadline "4 p.m. ET on Thursday, when waivers for vested veterans also begin."
There have been some rumblings and rumors this season involving trades of some big name players, including St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson and Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams.
Tim Tebow has been named in trade rumors, but it is unlikely that the New York Jets would deal him. Tebow has been a huge disappointment in New York this season, but that has been mostly due to the play calling and personnel options for the Jets.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have been rumored to be interested because that is where Tebow went to college, but the move still is unlikely.
As said by the Pigskin Report,
"To say that the Jacksonville offense is struggling is an understatement at best. They ranked last in passing offense, averaging just 164 yards per game. They rank 28th in rushing offense with under 90 yards a game on the ground and are scoring just 14 points per game. According to Elias Sports, the Jaguars have now fallen to a 139-140 overall record since joining the league."
Other names that have surfaced in trade rumors include Browns backup quarterback Colt McCoy, Kansas City Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe and Tampa Bay running back LaGarrette Blount.
The NFL trade deadline is different than other sports, especially Major League Baseball, where there is usually a lot of movement.
Due to player contracts and other factors, most teams stay quiet during the trade period, although some big moves have happened, like in 2009 when the Jets acquired receiver Braylon Edwards and in 2007 when Chris Chambers was traded to the San Diego Chargers.
