The Washington Redskins are coming off of a tough loss to the Giants and the team is hoping DeSean Jackson can return for Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles. The team has solid fantasy football options with Matt Jones, Jordan Reed and Pierre Garcon for starter Kirk Cousins, who remains the number one over RG3 and Colt McCoy.
The Redskins come into the week at 1-2 on the season and they are looking to bounce back after getting handled by the Giants on Thursday night. Jay Gruden said after the game that he has confidence in Cousins as the starter and that he will remain in that position heading into Week 4. According to the Washington Post, Colt McCoy was on the sidelines in practice and Robert Griffin took reps with Cousins with the team and in individual position drills.
McCoy has been the backup and Griffin has been third string for the Redskins following his concussion and all the issues regarding his contract status. The Redskins have been without DeSean Jackson and while there is a chance he could return in Week 4, he was not able to practice on Monday. Jackson has not registered a catch this season and he has missed the last three games with a hamstring issue. According to NFL.com, Jackson is "ahead of schedule" and is looking to return next week.
Head coach Jay Gruden likely will give an update on Jackson and the Redskins are hoping that he can go for the divisional game this week. The Redskins have had Matt Jones and Alfred Morris both contributing on offense and while Jones had a down game last week, Jay Gruden said he would continue getting work out of the backfield. Jones has 189 yards and two touchdowns this season and while he had just 38 yards against the Giants, Jones had a breakout game against the Rams with 123 yards rushing and three catches for 23 yards in Week 2.
With Jackson out, Reed has also become a solid target for Cousins, as he has 19 catches for 241 yards and one TD this season. Reed had been dealing with a quad injury earlier in the season, but it did not seem to bother him against the Giants. Reed had six catches on nine targets in the game and finished with 96 yards on Thursday. Both Jones and Reed are worth keeping an eye on for fantasy owners moving forward. Morris is still the number one back and he comes in with 1999 yards on 49 carries this season.
The Redskins also will be without DeAngelo Hall for a stretch, as the Post reported that Hall could miss up to four weeks with a toe injury. Pro Football Talk reported that Hall had to leave the Giants game with an injury and he was diagnosed with a partially torn ligament in his right big toe and could be out between 3-to-4 weeks. Pro Football Talk reports that Hall could be out longer than four weeks depending on how fast the toe heals. Hall has been starting for the team and now Bashaud Breeland and Will Blackmon will have to step up.
