College Football News Update: Nick Chubb Suffers Serious Knee Injury For Georgia Bulldogs In Tennessee Volunteers Comeback Loss

The Georgia Bulldogs suffered a tough loss against the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday 38-31 and the team also lost starting running back Nick Chubb to a serious knee injury. The Vols came back from 21-points down in the game and the Bulldogs may not be without Chubb for the rest of the season depending on the severity of the injury.

The loss came after a big rally from the Volunteers, who saw Joshua Dobbs go off with over 400 total yards and five touchdowns in the game. Dobbs had 312 yards passing and had 118 on the ground and he was key for Tennessee coming back. Reggie Davis had a big game for the Bulldogs, but he could not hang on for a crucial play at the end that would have potentially tied the game, dropping a 56-yard touchdown pass.

Davis had a 70-yard punt return in the game and a 50-yard catch, but the drop at the end was key and that helped the Vols finish off the comeback win. Dobbs completed 25 of 42 passes in the game and had three scores and he added two rushing touchdowns to help upset the Bulldogs. The Volunteers were down in the game 24-3 at one point and were able to come back and now they have won for the first time in the last five games against the Bulldogs.

Chubb went down early in the game for the Bulldogs and it came on the opening handoff of the game. Chubb rushed near the sidelines and he came down awkwardly on his left leg when he was tackled and left the game and he was taken away on a cart. According to ESPN.com, Mark Richt said he is "optimistic" that Chubb will avoid needing to have surgery on his knee. Last year Georgia running back Todd Gurley injured his ACL and was later taken in the first round of the draft by the Rams.
