The NY Jets are coming out of the bye week with Eric Decker and Chris Ivory healthy for Week 6 and they are the best fantasy football start options for fantasy owners on Sunday against the Redskins. The Jets defense is getting back Sheldon Richardson this week and that is big, as Muhammad Wilkerson injured his ribs and underwent x-rays.
The Jets are coming out of the bye week at 3-1 and the team has two huge games coming up, as the Redskins have been up and down this season and after that is a road tilt against the Patriots. The Jets could go into that game in New England at 4-1, while the Pats could be 5-0 if they win against the Colts this week. The Jets are trying to make some noise in the AFC and with the way the Dolphins are playing and the injuries for the Bills, they have a real chance to make a playoff run.
The Jets won in London and had a bye last week and that gave players like Eric Decker and Chris Ivory a chance to recharge after dealing with injuries earlier in the season. Both players were active in London and made impacts for the Jets and if the team wants to beat the Patriots in two weeks, they will need those two to stay healthy. Ryan Fitzpatrick has been playing well for the Jets and he is expected to remain the starter even when Geno Smith returns from his jaw injury.
According to Pro Football Talk, Wilkerson had x-rays taken for a rib injury, but the issue is not considered serious. Wilkerson has had some time to rest and the Jets also do not need to rush him back, as the team has Richardson active after serving a four game suspension. The Jets defense has been strong this season and they are averaging just under 14 points allowed per game through the first four games of the season.
Decker had four catches last week and one touchdown and while he had to leave the game for a stretch, his injury was not considered serious and he is ready for Week 6. Ivory had a strong game and put up a career best 166 yards and a TD against the Dolphins and the Jets could continue using him over pushing the passing game the next two weeks. Fitzpatrick has been solid and has seven touchdowns this season while completing just over 60 percent of his passes.
The Jets also have Kenbrell Thompkins as a depth option, as the former Patriots wideout is with the team on the practice squad and could be called up if an injury happens. According to Pro Football Talk, Thompkins signed with the Jets practice squad after being with the Raiders and the Patriots. The move forced the Jets to release Walter Powell to create a roster spot and while Thompkins has not been able to get things going this season, he could be a help for the Jets after the Pats cut him loose.
