ALCS MLB Playoffs Results: Kansas City Royals, Toronto Blue Jays Advance After ALDS Wins Over Houston Astros, Texas Rangers

The MLB postseason has the Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS after winning over the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers on Wednesday. The Blue Jays stormed back to win Game 5 against the Rangers, while the Royals powered through the Astros to advance to the American League Championship Series for the second straight season.

The Royals won 7-2 over the Astros to take the series 3-2 and now the Kansas City Royals will face off against the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS. The Royals got a strong start from Johnny Cueto and the ace finally won his first postseason game after pitching eight innings. Collin McHugh took the loss in the game and Kendry Morales added a home run and had three RBIs in the game for the Royals.

The Astros took a 2-0 lead early on with a Luis Valbuena home run, but the Royals bounced back with one run in the fourth inning and three in the fifth inning. The Blue Jays won 6-3 over the Rangers after coming back against Texas with four runs in a crazy seventh inning and now Toronto has advanced to the ALCS. Jose Bautista had two hits with a double and a home run, while Edwin Encarnacion had a home run in the game.

The Blue Jays-Rangers game had plenty of drama and controversy throughout and the last few innings of the game were particularly wild. Martin made an error after he threw the ball back to the pitcher and hit the bat of Shin-Soo Choo, which allowed the tiebreaking run to score. In the bottom of the inning the Rangers made errors on three straight plays and that helped set up the run for the Blue Jays.

The benches cleared three different times and the inning lasted nearly an hour. Bautista gave one of the bat-flips for the ages on his home run and the Blue Jays won a playoff game in Toronto for the first time in two decades. The team had not won a playoff game at home or a playoff series since winning the World Series in the 90's and now they will have the chance to play to get there in the ALCS.
