Dez Bryant is looking like he will return very soon and this has the Cowboys looking optimistic. The Cowboys have struggled offensively in the Romo-less era and much of the blame has been put on Brandon Weeden however this offense has lost some very dynamic weapons Bryant being the biggest.
Bryant received a therapeutic injection to help facilitate the healing process. Bryant has already been said to have been running lightly on a treadmill to help keep him conditioned.
Having Bryant back for the Cowboys rivalry game with the Giants seems like wishful thinking and if he does it may be difficult for him to return to game shape right away. Bryant creates defensive nightmares all over the field and forces the defense to plan for him and provide extra coverage to keep him covered.
This opens up rushing and passing lanes that normally would not be there. The loss of Romo is big because he knows how to fully utilize these matchups especially on the fly however there is a reason another quarterback could not have success behind the best offensive line in football; that is where Bryant comes in.
Brandon Weeden would have a lot more success if Bryant was just out there scaring defenses into keeping a safety out of the box however he has to make do with a lot less than he has before. The Cowboys also lost Lance Dunbar for the season who was the primary play maker for the Cowboys. When Bryant returns expect him to gain that role yet again. Bryant is right now a long shot for the Cowboys first game after the bye but he may surprise people by trying to suit up and compete in an important divisional showdown.
