Philadelphia Eagles Fantasy Rumors: Jordan Matthews Sleeper Week 6, DeMarco Murray Starter Over Ryan Mathews, Chip Kelly Staying?

The Philadelphia Eagles saw DeMarco Murray have a breakout game last week and into Week 6 he is a strong fantasy football start option over Ryan Mathews for Sam Bradford. Jordan Matthews is a sleeper pick for this week against a banged up G-men secondary and this comes as head coach Chip Kelly has denied that he is a candidate for some high profile college coaching jobs.

Murray had a very slow start to the season with just 11 yards in two games, but he bounced back in Week 5 with his best game of the season. Murray complained earlier in the season about the amount of touches he had been getting and clearly Chip Kelly heard his complaints, as Murray had a season-high 27 touches against the Saints last week. Murray finished with over 100 total yards and had 83 rushing yards on 20 carries with a touchdown.

Mathews had a solid game last week with 73 yards and three catches and he still is a viable option in deeper leagues behind Murray. Matthews is a sleeper WR this week against the Giants, as the team has Prince Amukamara out and will be thin in the secondary. Matthews has 30 catches in five games this season.

Chip Kelly once again has been in the middle of rumors regarding open head coaching jobs in college and the Eagles leader has once again denied that he is thinking about leaving. According to Pro Football Talk, Kelly said that he has not been contacted by any schools and that his agent has not been contacted about any open jobs. USC, Maryland and South Carolina all have openings and could go after Kelly as an option. John Harbaugh has also come up as a name.

The Eagles are also expecting to have Kiko Alonso back at some point this season after the linebacker suffered an injury in Week 2. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Alonso was first thought to have a "partially torn ACL" but it turned out he did not injure his ACL. Alonso had the knee scooped and while he has no timetable for a return, the linebacker is expected to play again this season.

Eagles defensive coordinator Billy Davis previously said to Jeff McLane that the team was "crossing fingers" and it ended up more positive for Alonso than initially feared. Alonso has previously dealt with knee injuries, including last year when he tore his ACL and the injury reportedly is in the same knee this time. Alonso would be have been put on IR if the injury was serious and if he can't return, it would be a major blow for the Eagles defense.

Alonso was part of the major trade with LeSean McCoy this offseason, which sent the running back to the Buffalo Bills. Alonso has a relationship with Chip Kelly from his time at Oregon and now the team could be very thin at linebacker. The team has DeMeco Ryans as their main option at linebacker now, but there is not much at the position with Brandon Graham, Jordan Hicks, Vinny Curry and Marcus Smith spread on the depth chart.
