49ers Rumors: Carlos Hyde, Reggie Bush Injuries Forces Pierre Thomas Interest, Garrett Celek Replaces Vernon Davis as Colin Kaepernick, Torrey Smith Improve

The San Francisco 49ers got a much-needed win in Week 6 and will now prepare for a big matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on a short week. Both teams are in desperate need of a win and some momentum and the 49ers could be short-handed entering the matchup. With Reggie Bush out with an injury, the 49ers are concerned that Carlos Hyde could follow as they look to the free agent market for help.

Hyde has been dealing with a foot injury and while he was able to play against the Ravens, he had to leave the game briefly with the injury. Hyde claims that he simply put too much weight on the injury and aggravated it, but the team is concerned enough to look at other options for help. According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, the 49ers are bringing in Pierre Thomas for a workout and could look at other options like Trent Richardson or Ben Tate for help. Head coach Jim Tomsula is hopeful that both Hyde and Bush can play on the short week, but the workouts show someone might be out.

"It's none of those things," Tomsula said, via ESPN.com "I don't know the whole thing but [Hyde's] foot's sore. I don't want to put a medical label on it but he's sore in there. I guess it's a bruise. He's got an orthotic in there, they're working through it that way, and we're just managing it with the pounding in practice."

Hyde is confident that he can play on Thursday while Bush is not saying much about his status for the matchup. Colin Kaepernick will need his run game against the Seattle Seahawks' defense. Jarryd Hayne will not be enough to keep the offense balanced. While Thomas and Tate could be nice, they will not be signed in time to actually get on the field Thursday night.

While the 49ers continue to press the run game, speculation rises about Vernon Davis' role on the team. The tight end remains a starter for the team, but his playing time continues to decrease. Davis returned from injury and did not record a catch against the Ravens. According to SFGate.com, the 49ers could be interested in trading the tight end with Garrett Celek getting the start in his place. While the 49ers have not shopped Davis and have no plans on it according to ESPN, teams could begin to call about his status.

Davis used to be Kaepernick's safety blanket, but that is no longer the case thanks to injuries this season. Instead, the quarterback is relying on Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith to carry the receiving game. Getting Bush back along with Hyde would give Kaepernick a more complete offense to work with.
