Election 2012: LeBron James, Derek Jeter, Victor Cruz, Alex Rodriguez and Other Athletes Endorse Presidential Candidates

Everyone knows President Obama is a big sports fan. Turns out, some athletes are pretty big Obama fans.

On Election Day many athletes across a range of sports lent their support for the President, while some others threw their hopes behind Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

NBA legend Michael Jordan threw his support behind President Barack Obama, along with Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter and Magic Johnson, according to Only A Game. Carter also donated money to Obama's campaign, according to the Huffington Post.

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz appeared in an Obama campaign ad last month.

"Being half Latino, it's been a long time since we've actually had a voice like this and had someone that really cares about the Latin community," Cruz said, via the New York Daily News. "And we need to go out there and let our voices be heard."

New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter previously told ESPN's Rick Reilly that he was voting for Obama,

NBA champion and NBA MVP winner LeBron James supported Obama on Twitter.

"It's a very important time for everyone," James said after Miami's win over the Suns on Monday night, according to CBS. "Everyone talks about having the right to vote. Don't talk about it. Go out and do it and let your voice be heard."

Green Bay Packers defensive back Charles Woodson also supported the President, appearing at a campaign rally.

Woodson said to ESPN: "I think just for my perspective - I can't speak for him - there's a respect there, a respect for who he is and what he's done and what he's trying to do," Woodson replied when asked about his relationship with the President. "That's why I agreed to be part of the rally today. I believe in what he's trying to do."

Denver Broncos executive and former quarterback John Elway threw his support behind Romney earlier in the week, as did Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.

Cutler spoke to ESPN-1000's Waddle & Silvy and said: "That's a touchy subject. I have been following the debates and everything. I do live in Tennessee. I'm voting for Mitt [Romney] this election season."

Golfing legend Jack Nickalus endorsed Mitt Romney in the New York Post, while Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia did it on Twitter.

''Last time it seemed to be a little bit more popular in the mainstream,'' said Miami Dolphins tight end Anthony Fasano said to the Associated Press on Tuesday. ''And people with public images were speaking out a little more than I think they have this election. Our profession - and throughout the sports world and the entertainment world - I think everyone came together and put more effort into their support for whoever in 2008.''

Alex Rodriguez is supporting Mitt Romney, most likely to avoid paying more taxes on his $250 million contract.

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is also throwing his weight behind Romney, and previously said that he would rather have a Romney win instead of a Jets Super Bowl.

"Well I think you always have to put country first," Johnson said, according to ESPNW.com. "So I think it's very, very important that for, not only us but in particular for our kids and grandkids, that this election come off with Mitt Romney and [Paul] Ryan as president and vice president."

Jay Feely tweeted support of Romney, saying: ''I liked Romney's answers on his tax plan and energy independence. Obama had a much better answer on women's equality on business,'' Feely tweeted while watching the second debate.

The two candidates also appeared on Monday Night Football during halftime of the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles game.

The two candidates have support from all types of athletes, but it remains to be seen if any of the endorsements help on Tuesday.
