Philadelphia Eagles Rumors: Sam Bradford Remains Starter Over Mark Sanchez, Ryan Mathews Fantasy Option Week 8 After Injury? Jordan Matthews Injured

The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a tough loss against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday night and Sam Bradford struggled in the game, but head coach Chip Kelly said that he is not considering making a change at quarterback. The Eagles have some players dealing with injuries, including Jordan Matthews, Ryan Mathews, Nelson Agholor and Jason Peters heading into Week 8.

The Eagles dropped to 3-4 with the loss against the Panthers and Bradford struggled with just 205 passing yards and one interception. Bradford had a passer rating at 58.7 for the game and this year he has 10 interceptions and nine touchdowns in seven games. According to Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com, Kelly said that he has not considered making a change to backup Mark Sanchez at this time.

The Eagles dropped a number of passes against the Panthers and that didn't help Bradford and now the team has a bye week. Bradford has put up 1766 passing yards this season and he has been completing 62 percent of his passes, which would be a career high if it holds for the quarterback. The Eagles are dealing with some bangs and bruises and that makes great timing for a bye week. Kelly said that Mathews is dealing with a groin injury, while Jason Peters injured his back and Jordan Matthews is coming back from a hand injury.

Matthews has been the number one receiver for the Eagles this season and he has been dealing with a hand injury for a few weeks. Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News reports that Matthews suffered a hand ligament injury three weeks ago and that may have contributed to his drops against the Panthers. Matthews has six drops this season and he comes in with 38 catches for 398 yards and one touchdown this season.

Kelly said that Ryan Mathews was limited with a groin injury in the game on Sunday despite having over 100 total yards against the Panthers. Mathews had nine touches in the game and DeMarco Murray had more touches than Mathews and has had more touches overall this season. Mathews has been the more effective runner this year and he is averaging 6.1 yards per carry and he is leading the team with 342 yards rushing. Kelly said to 97.5 The Fanatic that Mathews is dealing with the injury and "we'll see if he is available for Dallas," which will be the next game after the bye week.

Jason Peters had to be taken out of the game on Sunday with a back injury, but Kelly said that the lineman should be back after the bye week. According to Jeff McLane, Kelly said that Peters did not suffer a serious injury and he should be "good to go" for practice next week. Nelson Agholor was out for another game and he continues to deal with a high ankle sprain. Agholor has eight catches for 105 yards in five games as a rookie.
