NY Knicks News: Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis, Derrick Williams Lead Big Win In Season Debut Against Milwaukee Bucks, Greg Monroe

The New York Knicks have been in a tailspin in recent years but always generate a great buzz and have some entertaining players.

This year however the Knicks look different and different is good. The Knicks routed the Milwaukee Bucks in the first game of the season for both squads. The biggest surprise Carmelo Anthony only had 11 points. Derrick Williams and Kristaps Porzingis had huge games to propel the Knicks into the easy win. Williams went 8 of 17 from the field and looked like a prime playmaker in the Knicks offense. Porzingis got off to a slow start but in the end contributed 16 points and 6 defensive rebounds in the win.

Porzingis still needs to work on his shooting for him to be a more effective player but we saw flashes of his greatness during the game; his height and 3 point shooting abilities are rare to say the least. The Knicks dwarfed the Bucks in field goal percentage registering a 45.2% while the home team only had 34.9% of their field goals hit home.

The Knicks must work on their free throw shooting and 3 point efficiency to really get this team on a road to contention but it must feel good to pick up a W in the first game of the season after all of the negative talk the Knicks have endured. The Knicks may also find themselves having the deepest bench in the NBA as their second unity contributed 73 points and had 7 players in double figures.

The Knicks get a stiff test on Thursday against the Atlanta Hawks, let's see what this Derrick Williams is really made of.
